Boys Basketball Program for Grades 3-6th

Our program is thoughtfully designed to develop essential basketball skills specifically for boys in grades 3 through 6. We place a strong emphasis on building a solid foundation in crucial areas such as teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. By doing so, we aim to prepare our young athletes not only for the technical aspects of the game but also for the various challenges that they may encounter as they progress into middle school and high school basketball. Our comprehensive approach ensures that players are not only skilled on the court but also equipped with the values and mindset needed to thrive in competitive environments.

The Park Elite  Grades 7th and 8th

Our 7th and 8th grade Elite program is built for players who are ready to be pushed. Led by George Hernandez, a current high school varsity assistant coach, Elite offers instruction from someone who works at the level these athletes are aiming for and knows exactly what it takes to get there. Roster spots are limited and earned by invitation or tryout, which keeps the group small and the coaching individual. We deliberately structure the season around the middle school calendar rather than on top of it — the full program runs in August and September, and from October through December we step back to Sunday games only so each player can commit fully to his school team. Our players leave Elite sharper, more disciplined, and genuinely prepared for what high school basketball asks of them.

Girls Basketball Program (Grades 3-8)

Our Girls Basketball Program is designed specifically to cater to young athletes in grades 3 through 8, focusing not only on skill development but also on the importance of teamwork and confidence-building. Throughout the program, participants will have the opportunity to master the fundamental skills of basketball, including dribbling, shooting, and defensive techniques. In addition to honing their individual abilities, they will learn how to work effectively as a team, fostering a sense of camaraderie and cooperation. This comprehensive approach ensures that each athlete is well-prepared for upcoming middle school and high school competitions, setting them on a path for continued success in the sport.

High School Girls Basketball Program

High School Girls — Grades 9–12

Our high school girls program exists for one reason: to make sure that when November comes, our players are ready.

They train with West Park High School's own coaching staff — the same coaches, the same offense, the same defensive principles they'll be asked to run once the school season begins. Nothing to unlearn. By the time tryouts arrive, the system is already second nature.

Tuesday nights are for the work: skill development, situational reps, and conditioning. Sundays are where it's tested, against real competition at Hardwood Palace.

We play on Sundays deliberately, so our players never have to choose between us and school sports, club practice, or AAU. Play both. We'll work around it.

And while getting ready for the season is the goal, it isn't the whole of it. These girls learn to work when it's hard, to pick a teammate up on a bad night, and to carry themselves like someone worth having on a roster. Those habits outlast the season.

Park Basketball is a neighborhood nonprofit run by West Park families, for West Park families.

Group Training for Boys and Girls (Grades 3-8)

Group Training — Grades 3–8

Group training is where the work gets done.

Two professional trainers on the floor every week. Footwork, shooting, ball-handling, and defensive habits — the things that don't develop on their own and don't get fixed in a game.

We run two levels. The beginner group is built around our younger and newer players, with a shorter, focused session that matches their attention span. As they progress, they move up into the longer advanced group. Kids don't sit in a group they've outgrown, and they don't drown in one they're not ready for.

Training is also the backbone of our teams. Every Park player trains here — it's one of their two weekly practices — so a third grader works on the same floor as an eighth grader, learning the same habits.

Come for the season, not for a session.
